"Dr. Steven Vandebril earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2010 from the University of Leuven, within the Soft Matter, Rheology and Technology (SMaRT) group, where his research focused on the stabilisation of immiscible polymer blends using nanoparticles. He began his professional career as a Research Chemist at Soudal (Belgium), developing hybrid systems based on silane‑terminated polymers. After several years in the polymer processing industry, he returned to the adhesives and sealants sector, joining Kaneka Belgium N.V. in 2019 as a Senior Research & Technical Service Specialist within the MS POLYMER™ group. In this role, he supports customers across the EMEA region and leads research into new applications and innovative hybrid polymer technologies."
Manfred Jorna has more than 30 years of experience in the coatings industry. After earning an engineering degree in Analytical Chemistry, he began his career with Akzo Nobel Coatings in the Netherlands in 1986, where he was responsible for the formulation, production and application of coatings for the automotive and plastics industries. In 1995, he joined EFKA Chemicals B.V., later known as Efka Additives, where he managed additive sales across the Benelux region and provided technical support to distributors in Africa and the Middle East. Following the acquisition of EFKA Additives by Ciba Specialty Chemicals in 2001, he took on the role of New Business Development Manager, with global responsibilities. He currently works at BASF, where he provides technical support for formulation additives to major accounts across the Nordic countries and Benelux. He also supports direct account managers and distributors throughout the Middle East and Africa.

A passionate advocate for sustainability, Mr. Arte has completed certifications including Introduction to Sustainability from the University of Illinois (Coursera) and LinkedIn Learning courses in Sustainability Strategies, Fundamentals of Sustainable Supply Chains and Employee’s Guide to Sustainability (2022). With more than 25 years of experience in the Middle East, including time based in Muscat, Oman, Mr. Arte is currently based in Dubai, actively promoting Evonik’s Crosslinkers portfolio across the MEA region."
Rashad Hasnain has been with WACKER since 2018 and works as a Technical Manager for the Construction Polymers division across the MEA region. He has several years of experience in product development, characterisation and technical support for polymer products used in a range of commodity and engineering plastic applications. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry and an MPhil in Analytical Chemistry from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan.
With over a decade of industry experience, Walt Teng leads cross-functional teams in the development and global promotion of specialty isocyanates and advanced amine products. His expertise spans conventional and specialty polyurea, polyurethane elastomers and functional coatings, with key applications in high-performance waterproofing, protective coatings and paving materials. As the lead inventor and author, he has secured more than 14 patents and published technical papers. Ivy Xu has over 25 years of professional experience in global business, with a particular focus on the coatings equipment industry for more than 6 years. In 2024, she joined BEVS as the Technical & Sales Director, where she is responsible for global marketing and sales, as well as providing technical support to customers and distributors. Andy began his career with ICI Paints (now Akzo) in 1984 and moved into pigments in 1991, joining SCM Chemicals (now Tronox) as a Technical Service Manager. He then spent 17 years in the TiO₂ industry, working across all markets and ultimately becoming Global Account Manager for Akzo, BASF and PPG. In 2007, he moved into the colours sector as Sales Director for Rockwood Pigments, before joining Cathay Pigments (both now Oxerra) as Vice President, Global Key Accounts, in 2013. In early 2017, he returned to the TiO₂ sector with FP Pigments and now heads the business unit for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Dr. Sreenivas K.M. is the Technical Applications Manager and Lab Lead at LANXESS Middle East, bringing over 13 years of expertise in microbial control and specialty chemical applications. He specialises in the technical application of biocides for the paints, coatings, and construction industries, with a strong focus on long-term product preservation, plant hygiene, and material protection. His work spans in-can and dry-film preservation, benchmarking biocide performance to prevent spoilage and fungal or algal growth in decorative and industrial coatings. He also leads initiatives in plant hygiene and microbial monitoring, implementing advanced ATP- and qPCR-based testing to reduce contamination in manufacturing facilities and storage systems. Dr. Sreenivas’s expertise extends to sustainable formulation, where he collaborates with formulators to optimise biocide dosages that deliver high-performance protection while complying with regional regulatory and sustainability requirements. He also applies biocide science to mitigate corrosion and degradation, helping to ensure the durability of infrastructure and specialised coatings. With more than 15 scientific publications and book chapters to his credit, Dr. Sreenivas is recognised for bridging advanced laboratory diagnostics with large-scale industrial practice. "Dr. Martin Ocepek joined Helios Resins in 2011 after earning his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, where he later completed a PhD in Polymer Chemistry in 2015. In 2013, he expanded his research experience through a six‑month internship at the University of Akron, Ohio, USA. Between 2011 and 2018, as an independent researcher, Dr. Ocepek developed an innovative portfolio of resins that generated multimillion‑euro annual revenue. In 2019, he was appointed Director of R&D at Helios Resins, where he leads a team of 30 engineers and technicians. His team focuses on developing acrylate‑ and polyester‑based polymers for coatings and composites, advancing process technologies, supporting technical marketing and managing EU‑funded research projects. Dr. Ocepek also serves on the governing board of Slovenia’s Strategic National Partnership for the Circular Economy. His contributions to the chemical industry have been recognised by the Slovenian Chemical Society, which awarded him Best Young Chemist and Chemical Engineer from Industry."
"Dr. Dinesh Patel, born and educated in India, holds a PhD in Polymer Science. He began his career in R&D and production roles with companies such as Asian PPG Industries and Synpol Resins. In 2001, he joined National Paints, Sharjah, and is a certified NACE Level II Coating Inspector. He later moved to Bayer Middle East (now Covestro) as Regional Technical Manager for the Coatings, Adhesives & Specialties (CAS) division. In 2014, Dr. Patel established a technical laboratory in Dubai to strengthen customer support and provide training on Covestro products. He brings with him over 30 years of experience across the coatings industry in the Middle East, Africa and India."

Oriol de Luis is Technical Sales Manager at MÜNZING Chemie, with extensive experience in the coatings, construction and adhesives industries across Iberia, LATAM and the Middle East. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, a Postgraduate Degree in Paint Technology from the Sarrià Chemical Institute, and a Senior Technician qualification in Occupational Risk Prevention from IUCT. Oriol began his career as an R&D Technician at Nubiola Pigmentos, S.L., working in the Paint Applications Laboratory from 2007 to 2009, before becoming Sales Manager for Spain from 2009 to 2013. He joined Münzing Chemie Iberia, SAU in 2013 as Sales Manager for the Coatings, Construction and Adhesives Business Unit for Iberia, a role he continues to hold. From 2014 to 2021, he also served as Sales Manager for LATAM at Münzing Chemie GmbH, and since 2023, he has served as Sales Manager for the Middle East at Münzing Chemie GmbH.

Maryam Yaghmour is a Senior Technical Service & Development (TS&D) Specialist at Dow Construction Chemicals (DCC), supporting customers and distributors across the Middle East, Africa and India (MEAI) region. Based at the Middle East Innovation Center (MEIC) at KAUST, she specialises in developing, optimising and troubleshooting formulations for dry-mix mortar and acrylic applications. Her role involves translating customer needs into innovative solutions using Dow technologies, conducting application testing and performance evaluations, and delivering technical training to customers and stakeholders. She also works closely with Commercial, Marketing and R&D teams to support product launches, customer projects, business growth and market development. Maryam holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Synthesis from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of Science in Chemistry from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
